THE LIFE OF SACRIFICE

There has never been a soul who encountered God that did not first look for God in a sacrificial manner

I don't know why I always felt like God showed up to Solomon when he was on his royal bed

Apparently, vs 1 of 2 Chronicles 1 is the summary of the reign of Solomon.

2 Chronicles 1:1,14 KJV

And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

Clearly, the first thing Solomon did after his father died and he was enthroned was to go on a retreat with his entire congregation into the wilderness at the alter Moses made yet, there has always been a lot of emphasis on verse 6.

2 Chronicles 1:3 KJV

So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness.

2 Chronicles 1:6 KJV

And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it

The offering of a thousand offerings was an expression of his rended heart.  I want to believe that even then, what God first saw was the sacrifice of his heart unto the Lord

Now, Romans 12: 1 suddenly makes more sense.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

I have heard people emphasize on the offering Solomon made as what moved God and I grew to believe same. But reading verse 3 of 2 Chronicles 1, I now believe that what brought about the presence of God was Solomon's sacrificial journey into the wilderness to find God and of course he offered a great offering as an expression.
